My Town (words written by Lillian Myers, a pioneer of our Byemoor area about 1932) an excerpt from God’s Country History book).
“To have any part in the formation of a town is to feel something of the pride of possessing ‘legal and equitable estate’. My presence here (together with a few hundred others) has created the need of a town. I have helped to build the foundation thereof, and I watch its development with a special interest.”
Many years ago, there were many businesses in Byemoor. A mural painted by the late Phylis Starling on the Endmoor Drop In showing all of the businesses.
Byemoor was started in 1925 and we are celebrating 100 years on June 7, 2025 with a Centennial Celebration.
We are planning the event around the Elk’s picnic held many years ago where the whole community would pack a picnic lunch for and celebrate the day with much socializing and games for the children.
Our centennial celebration will be a full day event, free for everyone, thanks to many organizations and groups working together, with registration, refreshments, treats, food, opening ceremonies, parade, slide show of God’s Country book, ball games, kids games, birthday cake, tours of old and existing schools, old church, artifact and club memories display.
Live entertainment with a street dance and fireworks will end the evening.
Anyone who has any connections with Byemoor, past, present and surrounding area people are invited to attend this centennial celebration. We are anticipating approximately 500 people for this event. It will truly be a homecoming event for people who have moved away from our small community.
We know this is a huge undertaking, but we are confident that we can all join together and make it a Centennial Celebration that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We may be small but we are mighty. Hope to see you there.
