Marilyn Bunbury was born on Sept. 18, 1940, in Galahad, Alta. to David and Ethel McGowan.
She married Tom Bunbury on Oct. 2, 1958. They enjoyed living on their farm north of Castor for 43 years. This was a mixed cattle and grain farm. They moved to Castor in 2001.
Marilyn enjoyed gardening, sewing, berry picking, playing cards and being involved in many community organizations such as Royal Purple and she saw the community’s need for the Calf Help Line.
Marilyn enjoyed their many trips to Mexico, Hawaii and many bus tours around North America.
Marilyn passed away peacefully on Feb. 28, 2024, with family by her side.
Marilyn was lovingly remembered by her husband Tom until his passing on March 5, 2024.
THOMAS “TOM” BUNBURY
Tom Bunbury was born on Nov. 15, 1935 in Castor, Alta. to George and Sarah Bunbury. He grew up with 10 siblings on the family farm in the Lauderdale district.
Tom and Marilyn were united in marriage on Oct. 2, 1958 and lived on the family farm for 43 years. They moved to Castor in 2001.
Tom enjoyed visiting with friends and family, playing cards, driving around the county to check out the fields, showing off his 1963 Pontiac Bonneville, driving the golf cart and visiting all of the neighbourhood dogs.
Giving back to the community was important to him. He was a member of the Castor Elks for many years.
He enjoyed their many trips around North America.
Tom passed peacefully on March 5, 2024 with family by his side.
Tom and Marilyn are lovingly remembered by their four children: Daniel (Charlene) Bunbury of Castor, Alta., Valerie (Donald) Minchin of Sherwood Park, Alta., Marla Vierboom of Spruce Grove, Alta., and Rhonda (Kelly) Knorr of Blackfalds, Alta.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as other family and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Life for Tom and Marilyn was held at the Castor Community Hall on Wed. March 13, 2024, at 2 p.m.
Memorial donations in memory of Marilyn and Tom may be made and sent directly to Knox United Church, Castor, Alta., the Castor Cemetery, c/o Town of Castor, or to Our Lady Of The Rosary Hospital Foundation, Castor, Alta.
