Woody Bourk
1951 – 2024
Woody, beloved husband of Bunny Bourk, passed away in Vauxhall, Alta. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024 at the age of 72 years.
Besides his loving wife Bunny, Woody will be lovingly remembered by their two children Wendy (Mike) and their family Jessica (Carsen) and her son Carter and Michael Junior (Maiya); Billy (Jen) and their family Ashton and Jacey.
He is also survived by his brothers Terry (Chris) and their family Laurie, Tracey, T.J. and Cody and Dwaine (Barb) and their family Nita and Dwayne Junior. Woody will also be remembered by numerous cousins from Onoway, Alta. and across Saskatchewan.
He was predeceased by his father Raphael “Stoney” Bourk and sister-in-law Angie Bourk.
Woody was born on Nov. 11, 1951 in Kerrobert, Sask. to Stoney and Mavis Bourk. He spent his school years in Springwater, Sask. and Cadogan, Provost and Spondin, Alta.
Later, he was a jockey on racetracks all over Alberta and Montana, winning many races.
Woody went on to become a long haul transport driver, own a corral cleaning business and continued driving truck, hauling oil across Alberta. He went on to become a Production Operator for oil companies, eventually retiring from Canadian National Resources Limited in 2015.
Woody loved horses and team roping, competing for many years winning buckles and cash prizes. He also loved his muscle cars, racing, show and shines, cruising and, of course, lots of burnouts!
He always loved going hunting in the fall with Bunny and his buddies, Monty Bayham, Brent Gedny, Lloyd Dennis and Conrad Scoville.
Woody will always be remembered for his love of family, home, horses, cars, a cunning sense of humour, his great love for his grandchildren and being called “Papa”! Woody will be missed.
Woody will be privately remembered by his family and friends.
