Celebrating Father’s Day in style, Big Valley hosted its first Main Street Block Party with a street dance and Show ‘n Shine on Sat. June 16.
Planned as an all-ages traditional street party, the community was invited to come out to dine, dance and rediscover all that Big Valley has to offer.
Local merchants offered flash sales throughout the evening, enticing partygoers to sample their wares.
Tasty hotdogs and hamburgers were served up from the grill helping to keep hunger in check, while the beer gardens offered up thirst quenching refreshments.
Friends of the Big Valley Library set up a tent and provided art centered activities for the kids.
Home-grown musical sensations, Six Finger Fritz; Scott Schell, Shaun Nyuli, Chris Jenke, Brett Bartman and DJ Rairdan, took to the stage in the evening with Evan Stall standing in for Dustin Edwards who was unavailable due to a prior engagement.
Charming the audience with their rock-blues-country stylings, the troubadours encouraged audience input to a donation bucket, promising to match contributions up to $500.
Money raised will be donated to fund local music programs in schools.
Considered a smashing success, numerous locals stated their hope that this type of event will become a regular occurrence in the village.
