April 30, 1953, to April 6, 2018
It is with great sadness that we are having to say goodbye to our beloved husband, brother, dad, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law and friend to so many.
Mourning for Donnie is his wife Gail, sister Elaine Sharpe, brother Daniel and his wife Audrey and the other half of him in so many ways his best friend ever and twin Ronald, with his wife, Emily.
Also mourning are Donald’s three children, Candice (Shawn) Stuckey, Tracy (Kevin) Brost and Johnpaul Benjamin (Christa).
Donald was blessed with nine grandchildren, Kylee, Sienna, Courtney, Chance, Dillan, Damien, Lexus, Léo and Liv and two great-grandsons Kodie and Jace along with stepdaughters Jacey Melnyk (Matt) and Audrey Bouchard [Cole] as well as mother-in-law Marlene Cuming and father-in-law Jim Ellwood.
Donnie is predeceased by his brother Ed Benjamin, brother-in-law Allen Sharpe, stepson Cole Annable as well as parents Roy Benjamin, Betty Lagore and stepfather Paul Lagore.
Donnie will be missed for his kindheartedness, his super great laugh out loud stories, his weekly card games and by so many family and friends who knew him to be a great, humble and caring man.
His absence will be felt during every camping trip, hunting expedition and pigeon race that our family has forever more.
Donnie enjoyed the simple life, his time with his family and friends.
He was like a little kid during his three trips to Disneyland.
He got to see some sites.
He worked hard.
His great pleasures were fishing with JP and the boys, hunting with Nadine, Ronald and all the guys.
Racing his Homing Pigeons always competing and collaborating with Ronald and the fellows from the Central Alberta Racing Pigeon Club.
We all miss you sweetheart – this was much too soon.
A celebration of Donnie’s life was held on Sat., April 14, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the Stettler Funeral Home, Stettler, Ab. with Laurence Fisher officiating.
Don was laid to rest in the Lake View Cemetery, Stettler, Ab.
Donations in memory are gratefully accepted to Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation c/o Stettler Funeral Home & Crematorium, Box 1780, Stettler, AB T0C 2L0, 403-742-3422, who have been entrusted with the care and funeral arrangements.
