Bashaw RCMP, Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit make arrests, seize loaded handgun

Bashaw RCMP with the help of the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit and Stettler RCMP on March 22 arrested repeat offender Jesse James Lyman Macdonald who was wanted on multiple warrants.

Macdonald was located behind a residence on 51 Street in Bashaw interacting with a woman and a vehicle.

As officers approached, Macdonald attempted to flee on foot, however, he was quickly located and arrested.

The woman identified as Jody Lil Sarasin was arrested for obstruction.

Incidental to arrest, RCMP conducted a search of a bag and a vehicle.

As a result of the search RCMP located a loaded handgun and over 50 rounds of ammunition.

RCMP has charged Jesse James Lyman Macdonald (32) of no fixed address with Careless use of a firearm (x2), Carrying a concealed weapon, Possession of a prohibited firearm and Resist arrest.

Macdonald was remanded for court on March 24, 2022 at Red Deer Provincial Court.

Additionally RCMP have charged Jody Lill Sarasin (30) of no fixed address with: Careless use of a firearm (x2), Carrying a concealed weapon, Possession of a prohibited firearm, Fail to comply with a release order and Possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

Sarasin was released from custody to appear in court on May 12, 2022 in Stettler Provincial Court.
