Coronation arena, rink inspected for health and safety

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Sandra Kulyk and Recreation (Rec) Director Barry Brigley met with Darcy Brown and Mike Ireland from Alberta Occupational Health and Safety to discuss the towns health and safety program.
“They are now taking a proactive stance they aren’t just showing up when something horrible happens in your community,” stated Kulyk when sharing the details of the meeting with council at their regular meeting on Jan. 15.
Brown and Ireland inspected both the Curling Rink and Skating Arena and provided a report with their recommendations.
There were no critical issues that needed to be addressed however they did bring up the Working Alone Policy and Emergency Preparedness Plan for identifying potential risks such as slips, falls, burns, etc.
Rec Director Brigley, CAO Kulyk and Assistant Rec Director Murray Foster will review these and get the necessary documentation ready and then follow up with Brown and Ireland.
Kulyk said,” It was a good visit,” said Kulyk, “I would so much rather them come out here and tell us beforehand what we need to do than come out after the fact and tell us what we’ve done wrong.”
