Hughenden Public School (HPS) has made a big comeback since the pandemic in their archery program.

This year we have had parents start investing their time and efforts to get the program back up and going. These volunteers have allowed increased practice time and have given the shooters an opportunity to compete in a second tournament in their season.

“It is a great opportunity to give our archers some more practice before the provincial competition in Edmonton,” said Principal Ryan Duffett.

Student archers were also pleased with the new schedule.

“It is beneficial because it gives us more practice and gives a feel for how it works before we go to the big tournaments like provincials,” commented Aaron Stringer, last season’s Provincial 3d champion.

The school even bought new bows for their archers and some t-shirts for Wildcats to wear at the tournaments to show off their school pride.

HPS has made some big jumps for the archery program and will continue to keep building the program up in the years to come.
