Paintearth county council
Only a day away from the County of Paintearth’s new security system being fully installed, the county’s 2013 Dodge pick up truck was stolen reported Director of Public Works Bryce Cooke to council during their regular meeting on Tues., May 17.
The insurance adjuster is scheduled to look at the truck but it seems likely it will be written off due to the extensive damage. The steering column was busted out, ignition gone and the person(s) responsible for the theft filled the truck with diesel fuel due to the close proximity of the slip tank, so the engine/fuel system will need to flushed as well.
Suggested changes to fire ban by-law
CAO Tarolyn Aaseurd recommended to council that a change be made the fire by-law, specifically that the by-law be amended so that if someone in the county starts a fire during a fire ban a letter goes to the land owner not just the land occupant, as is currently in place.
County to hold BBQ
Council members finalized the details on their upcoming barbeque to be held at the Paintearth County building on June 9 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and they will be serving watermelon, beef on a bun, pickles and pie.
