Blanche Marie Angel passed away on Jan. 26, 2021 at the Hanna Health Centre at the age of 91 years. She was born in Calgary to Claude and Katherine Buchanan.
Blanche attended school in Rainier, Alta. and Brooks, Alta. She worked as a waitress and cook at various Alberta locations.
Blanche and her husband Ernie and two of the youngest children moved to Trinidad where her husband was employed by a drilling contractor. On completion of the contract, they returned to Canada.
The next contract was in Malaysia, and Blanch and the two boys followed at a later date.
Seven years later the family moved to Aberdeen, Scotland. They resided there until 1999 with short assignments in China, Dubai, UAE, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and South Korea.
Upon their return to Canada the decision was made to settle in Hanna, Alta.
Blanche also enjoyed holidays in various parts of the world such as South Africa, Kenya, Barbados, Cyprus, Philippines, Japan, Kalispell Montana, Victoria and Kelowna, BC.
Blanche was predeceased by her parents and brothers: Alan (Mary) Green, Lyle (Marion) Buchanan, Jim (Klara) Buchanan, Melvin Buchanan (toddler), Claude Buchanan and infant son Melvin Donald.
Blanche was further predeceased by her husband’s family: parents, Andrew and Helen Angel; John (Margie) Angel, Sophie (Harry) Simpson, Nancy (Arthur) Bevans, Marie (Joseph) Green, Alice (Larry) Medford, Lillian (Ronald) Russell, and Paul (Isabell) Angel.
Blanche is survived by her loving husband Ernie Angel and her six children: Shirley (Jim) Bates, Janet (Ronald) Lowther, Roderick (Arlene) Donald, Kevin Donald, Leslie Angel of Thailand, Byron Angel of England; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; sister-in-law Avis Buchanan; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
