Anderson
Lawrence Elwood Anderson was born on Jan. 11, 1928 on the family homestead near Coronation.
He was the third of 10 children born to Alfred and Elsie Anderson and while the family didn’t have much money there was always lots of laughter in their household and plenty of food to eat.
He attended Lake Thelma School just down the road from home until he took over many of the responsibilities of the farm due to Alfred’s failing health.
He spent the majority of his life working the land and raising cattle until moving to the Hanna Senior’s Lodge in 2013.
Lawrence married Edith Sneath in 1956. They enjoyed almost 60 years together with Edith supporting him both on the farm and in their home.
He loved his children deeply, Phillip (1959), Kathy (1962) and Roxlyn (1966), and provided many opportunities for music lessons, travelling and further education.
Lawrence particularly enjoyed camping with extended family. Everyone has great memories of heading out in convoys to “parts unknown” to spend vacations together.
He was also a member of the Social Credit Party for many years. This, too, afforded opportunity to be with family as they attended party conventions in the “big city”. He was never one to back down from a lively debate over political matters but he didn’t hold a grudge if someone held a different, albeit, wrong, opinion on the matter!
Grandchildren provided many hours of joy to Poppa Anderson. He was a kind and generous man who expressed his love and his interest in every aspect of their lives.
Lawrence went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on May 27, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Edith Anderson; his son Phillip (Sharalynn) and their children, Cailyn (Zachary) Boodt, Camille Anderson and Cassandra Anderson; his daughter Kathy (Rick) Weich and their sons, Zachary and Josh; his daughter Roxlyn (Kevin) Seim and their daughters, Allie and Brook. He is also survived by brothers, Ken (Lil) Anderson and Cliff (Helen) Anderson; sister, Edna Kary, brother-in-law, Dave (Mary) Epp, and sister-in-law, Rhoda Litke.
He was predeceased by his infant brother, Gilbert and his parents Alfred and Elsie Anderson; an infant son, Allan; sisters, Maxine Nelson, Irene Heckenliable, Marie Litke, Shirley Epp and Bernice McComish; brothers-in-law Melvin Nelson, Ray Heckenliable, Norman Litke, Arden McComish and Art Kary.
