Altheim, Verna: Career started at Coronation bank

Verna Elsie Altheim (nee Scheffelmaier) passed away on June 17, 2016 after a short stay in Wetaskiwin Hospital at the age of 79 years.

She was born on Aug. 21, 1936 to Adolf and Molly Scheffelmaier of Brownfield and after finishing school started working in the Toronto-Dominion Bank in Coronation and later transferred to Lethbridge.

Verna married Ervin Altheim on April 23, 1960 and due to his job with Massey-Ferguson, they transferred to Winnipeg, then Toronto and finally to Stockton, California where they lived until Erv passed away.

Verna stayed on in Stockton until July, 2014 when she moved to the Sunrise Village in Wetaskiwin until her passing.

She is survived by her two sons, Murray and Michael and a granddaughter, Kelsea, two brothers, Albert (Gwen) and Herbert (Anne); five sisters, Helen (Al) Ingleton, Esther (Alvin) Suchotzky, Jean (Don) Geddes, Shirley (Bill) Duncan and Linda (Leo) Lutz; sister-in-law Marie, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Verna was predeceased by her husband, Ervin; parents Adolf and Molly Scheffelmaier, brothers Richard and Sam.

A celebration of her life will be held at a different time.
