Oyen RCMP were dispatched to a location where clothing and other personal effects were located in a treeline along a rural road on Sept. 17, 2024 at approximately 11:14 a.m.
The matter was deemed suspicious and Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was dispatched to the area and has taken charge of the investigation.
Upon further search of the location an adult victim was located deceased. The deceased has been identified as a 28-year-old female resident of Lethbridge, Alta.
RCMP have arrested and charged 61-year-old Garry Dean Brown, a resident of Vulcan County with second-degree-murder.
Brown was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Sept. 25, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna, Alta.
Tractor theft
Provost RCMP received a report of a stolen tractor from a rural location south of Czar, Alta. on Sept. 15.
RCMP believe that the tractor once stolen drove through several rural fences in the area causing damage. The tractor is described as green John Deere 615 with a front end loader attachmen, valued at approx.. $35,000.
