Hand Hills Lake Stampede

John Verbeek adjusts his son Kale Verbeek’s helmet strap before he participates in the wild pony race for the first time on Sat. June 1 at the Hand Hills Lake Stampede.

This rodeo and community gathering has earned itself the title of being one of the longest operating rodeos in Alberta at 103 years this year.

Highlights include Calgary Stampede stock, helpful volunteers, endless flavourful pie, open camping spaces, a tradeshow, chuckwagon races and, of course, the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association recognized rodeo.
