Hanna RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence in Hanna on Oct. 5.
The search resulted in the seizure of cannabis marihuana plants and marihuana being processed into cannabis resin, weapons and other property that is related to the offence.
RCMP arrested and charged 41 year old Andrew Robert Smith and 47 year old Maryann McLearn of Hanna with production of marihuana, production of cannabis resin, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking marihuana, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Smith and McLearn appeared before a Justice of the Peace. Maryann McLearn was released and Andrew Robert Smith was remanded into custody. Both accused are set to attend Provincial Court in Hanna on Oct. 26.
Theft of oilfield tubing
Consort RCMP received a complaint of theft over $5,000 from an oil lease site south of Altario, Ab. on Oct. 3.
It was determined that the theft took place between Sept. 27, and Oct. 3, 2016.
Approximately 230 joints of various sizes of oilfield tubing was stolen.
Unknown suspect(s) would have used a picker truck to load the tubing.
This is the second theft of tubing from this location, with the previous theft occurring in April of 2016.
Seizure of stolen property
Consort RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Redan Street in Veteran, Ab. on Oct. 7 in relation to an ongoing investigation of stolen property. RCMP recovered items that had been previously stolen within the Village of Veteran.
Joseph Brown, age 42, of Veteran, was subsequently charged under the Criminal Code for two counts of possession of stolen property obtained by crime under $5,000 and three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance.
Brown is scheduled to appear in Coronation Provincial Court on Nov. 25.
