RCMP conduct search, seize stolen property

Hanna RCMP executed a search warrant and recovered approximately $60,000 of stolen property.
On Jan. 26, 2017, Hanna RCMP were granted a search warrant for a property in the Town of Hanna.
During the search, officers recovered an F-150 truck that had been reported stolen from Calgary on Jan. 9, 2017. Investigators also recovered a Kubota tractor worth approximately $30,000 and a gas powered tamper which had both been reported stolen from Hanna earlier in the day.
RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the stolen motorcycle and trailer, believed to have been stolen at the same time as the Kubota tractor.
The motorcycle is a black, 2010 Harley Davidson trike. At the time of the theft, it had Alberta license plate CXJ78.
The trailer is a white 2013 Cargo mate enclosed trailer. At the time of the theft, it had license Alberta License plate 4XK096.

Five thefts

A rural residence south of Coronation, Ab. was broken into sometime  between Mon. Jan. 23 and Tues. Jan. 24 where a 46” Samsung flat screen TV, a Dell laptop and several Dewalt hand tools (grinder, impact tool, battery pack and reciprocating saw) were stole
Also stolen was a two million candle power portable flashlight and a Salton portable ice maker.
A residence in Halkirk, Ab. was broken into on Jan. 20 – 21 and a pair of bluish grey Samsung front load washer and dryer were stolen.
RCMP in Hanna are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the persons responsible for a break and enter that occurred on Jan. 18, 2017.
Suspects broke into a building in the Hanna area. Once inside they took seven semi-automatic rifles, a 20 gauge shotgun, a green “Stack-On” gun cabinet and assorted ammunition and liquor.
Security cameras showed one suspect as a one female, slight build, short (approx. 5’) and wearing black clothing and face mask.
The second suspect is believed to be male, medium to heavy build, approx. 6, wearing dark clothing and face mask. Both suspects were wearing distinct black and red gloves.
The vehicle was an older model extended cab Dodge Ram (2002 to 2008). The truck has pinstriping or damage on the right side. It also has a box cover (tonneau cover).
Suspects cut the lock on the access gate on Jan. 20 to the Waste Management facility north of Hanna, entered the compound and stole 30-60 used automotive batteries.
Oyen RCMP are asking for tips to help solve a break and enter to a residence near Youngstown.
On Thurs. Jan 19, between 2pm and 4pm, suspect(s) entered  the residence and took the following items: two shotguns,a Winchester rifle with scope and a  .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver.
Also a small suitcase containing handmade Damascus knives, a small case containing handmade pens, various bullets, primers and powder for reloading, handmade carving set, and a handmade leather case with a dog and a bronco etched into the leather.
A vehicle that may be related was seen leaving the area and was described as a newer model black Dodge Ram crew cab with a slip tank in the back.

Fatal collision
On Jan. 24 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Hanna RCMP responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 36 at the intersection with Highway 570.
A 2017 Hyundai Tucson was travelling eastbound on Highway 570, crossing Highway 36, when it was struck by a northbound semi tractor trailer.
Two female passengers in the Hyundai, aged 32 and 33, died on scene while two male occupants were treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The lone occupant of the semi tractor trailer was not injured.
At the time of the collision the weather was described as being foggy and wet.
The investigation continues and the name of the deceased will not be released.
