GREIDANUS Honeybee Farm located in Stettler, Ab. requires three Apiary Technician’s for the 2018 season. The successful applicant will have a minimum of 3 years of experience working on a Canadian beekeeping operation and have thorough knowledge of beehive management including diagnosing disease and treatment. Employment starts mid-March and finishes mid-October. This is a full time position (40+ hours per week). Compensation is dependent on experience and skill, ($15.50-18.50 / hour).The successful applicant will have a valid class 3 driver’s licence or equivalent. (A clean abstract is preferred, must be insurable by any major insurance provider) . The technician will be responsible for being lead hand of teams of Apiary workers. Duties include, driving to the various assigned apiaries on a regularly scheduled basis, caring for the bee colonies, diagnosing disease, applying treatments, determining which hives to split, and determining when and what to feed colony’s. A daily record of work is to be handed in each day detailing, apiaries visited, work completed, treatments and or feed administered. During harvest, the technician will be responsible for coordinating their work group in collecting the honey from the assigned apiaries and ensuring that the hives are adequately prepared and cared for, monitoring for parasites and other diseases in preparation for the upcoming winter.
