Fatal farm accident near Hanna

Hanna RCMP were called to a report of a farming accident on Sept. 25 at 9:19 p.m. that resulted in the death of a 17 year old male from the Hanna area.
The male had been harrowing a field when the tractor he was driving went over an embankment and rolled. The male was ejected and crushed beneath the machinery. He died at the scene.
The name of the deceased will not be released.

Rollover fatality

Members of the Coronation Detachment responded to a single vehicle roll over on Highway 872 south of Coronation on Sept. 23 at 8:23 a.m.
The investigation revealed that a south bound SUV rolled several times coming to a stop in the ditch. The lone driver, a 37 year old male from the Coronation area, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
It is believed that alcohol and not using a seat belt were factors in this incident.

Collision

Stettler RCMP members were alerted to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving a stolen White 1998 Dodge Ram on ‘Tower Road’ on Sept. 20 at approximately 6:30 a.m.
A short time later, a male was brought into the Stettler Hospital believed to have been involved in the MVC on ‘Tower Road’.
The male is currently in custody on an unrelated matter but Stettler RCMP are seeking assistance from anyone who may have witnessed or provided aid at the MVC.

Quonset theft

Coronation RCMP are investigating a break and enter to a quonset near Hwy 599, west of Talbot, Ab. which occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Sept. 2.
Two unknown male suspects used a yellow crow bar, and kicked in the door to the Quonset.
Items stolen included a 27” Insignia LED television and an assortment of Makita power tools.

 

 

Quad theft

 

Coronation RCMP are investigating the theft of a quad from the Village of Halkirk. A 2006 white Yamaha Wolverine quad is believed to have been loaded into a vehicle and taken from a residence in Halkirk sometime between Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m., and Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.

 

Drug Charges

Wainwright RCMP members conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 41 on Sept. 14.
Further investigation determined that the occupants were in possession of controlled substances. Both occupants were arrested without incident and the vehicle was searched.
Located in the vehicle was a quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine and marihuana. A total street value for the seized drugs is estimated at $5200.
As a result of the seizure, Wainwright RCMP have charged Cynthia Sinclair, 35 year old female from Consort, Ab. and Michael Saunders, 18 year old male from Veteran, Ab. with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of marihuana.
Both Sinclair and Saunders were held for bail hearings and subsequently released on their own recognizance to appear in Wainwright Provincial court on Sept. 21, 2017.
