Thank you for trying to help CAO’s and councillors understand that the public have rights as listed in the Municipal Government Act (MGA).
I am sympathetic to the ratepayers of Morrin who seem to have some of the same issues as ratepayers in many villages, towns and districts.
Our village of Alix, for example, has just been inspected by Municipal Affairs for the second time in 10 years!
In 2007, the inspectors made 11 recommendations; this time there were 52 recommendations including almost all of those from 2007.
I think part of the problem is that most of the public do not know how much information they are entitled to and that enables some CAO’s and councillors to disregard the MGA.
This is an election year. I hope voters take the time to listen to all candidates and choose the ones that will ensure that the MGA will be respected and therefore each voter will be respected.
In Alix, the candidate forum will be Tuesday, October 3 at the Community Hall 7 pm.
I hope everyone attends.
